Goldrush Resource’s flagship Ronguen gold deposit is located in Burkina Faso, West Africa, 100km north of the capital city, Ouagadougou.
The deposit is located in the northeast part of the 400 kilometre Boromo greenstone belt, surrounded by a number of gold deposits, including High River Gold’s 1.7 million ounce Bissa property six kilometres to the south; and the 300,000 ounce Kalsaka gold mine 60 kilometres to the west.
Being located on the doorstep of an existing mine ensures ready access to advanced project infrastructure, including water, paved and sealed dirt roads and skilled workers.
The town of Kongoussi with a population of 26,000, is located 10 kilometres north of the project via paved road. Gravel roads provide easy access to most parts of the project’s two permits.
The Ronguen gold deposit lies on Sub-Saharan terrain, within the company’s…
Kongoussi 1 and Tikaré permits, totalling 38,230 hectares. The topography of these permits is characterized by historic artisanal mining and, in places, spectacular outcropping, which has lead Goldrush to rich discoveries in the project area.
Since drilling began in 2006, 521 drill holes totalling 33,000 metres have been completed, in addition to 23 trenches totalling over 2,000 metres.
Based on a 0.5 g/t cutoff grade, the Ronguen deposit contains an inferred resource of 5.9 million tonnes grading 1.31 grams per tonne gold for a total of 249,000 oz. of gold. Mineralization appears to be straightforward and amenable to high grade open pit mining.
Drilling has outlined a continuous mineralized zone 1.5 kilometres east-west and 10-100 metres wide.
The mineralized zone extends vertically from within just a few metres of the surface to a depth of 122 metres.
Drilling at depth is considered highly prospective and has the potential to significantly increase the mineral resources. SRK has suggested that “…further drilling at depth is highly warranted.”
Since the release of Goldrush’s initial 43-101 resource estimate in 2008, ongoing drilling north of the Main Zone.
has produced promising assays of 7.63 g/t gold over 15 metres.
and 3.1 g/t gold over 34 metres. This new zone is called the North Zone.
In April 2011, Goldrush announced that drilling had extended the footprint of the Ronguen deposit by 5.7 hectares to the north.
Drilling in this New North Zone yielded results such as 3.92 g/t Au over 10 metres (KGRB11-0341).
Ongoing drilling continues to confirm existing mineralization and expand mineralization to the north.
The South Zone also hosts potential for additional mineralization with extensive high grades over widths from 4 to 18 metres.
As a result of the continued excellent drill results, Goldrush Resources is accelerating the advancement of the Ronguen gold project, with the aim of producing an updated mineral resource estimate in 2011.
