NATHAN Tinkler has held talks with Whitehaven Coal’s major shareholders in the hope any formal move on the coalminer will be a friendly transaction, as he works to secure funds to back his ambitious takeover plan.
The market is yet to buy into speculation around the “indicative, non-binding proposal” the Tinkler Group put to Whitehaven on Tuesday, with the shares closing at $4.19 yesterday, well short of the $5.50-$6 range analysts tip is needed for any real discussions to start.
