Because manganese carbonate supply has become scarce, the industry expect the next 3-5 years with an annual capacity of domestic electrolytic manganese may be reduced 50-70 million tons.
Manganese director of the National Association of the Secretary-General has Xiangbo said: “China more than 90% manganese carbonate manganese smelter as the main raw material, but with any exploitation for decades, leading to manganese resources shrinking, manganese powder, prices therefore straight up. In this case, if no new products to replace in the next three to five years China will likely annual loss of 50-70 million tons of manganese. ”
“To fill this gap, many domestic manufacturers and associations have begun to study new material technology, such as manganese dioxide and manganese oxide,” he added.
China is the world’s largest manganese producer, last year with an annual capacity of 220 million tons, magnesium powder, while actual production is only 140 million tons.
Manganese ore in the domestic supply crunch and price stay high, driven in recent years, many manufacturers began to look to foreign imports of manganese ore resources.
A manufacturer of Hunan, said: “We plant in Western Hunan, Guizhou Songtao but must be bought from the mine. We are currently looking for suppliers of manganese Ghana, Africa, the lowest 28% of the content there has been sufficient to produce electrolytic manganese manganese ore. ”
According to customs data, China’s total imports in the first quarter of more than 300 million tons of manganese carbonate,Manganese Powder Manufacturers, of which imports from Ghana, accounting for 21.4 million tons, compared with giant by 1800% over the same period last year.
