David Morgan resigns as BHP Billiton director

BHP Billiton director David Morgan has quit, and will take up a senior position with US investment firm JC Flowers.

Mr Morgan, a former head of Westpac Banking Group, resigned after becoming managing director of JC Flowers, Europe and Asia Pacific, based in London, BHP Billiton said in a statement today.

“Given the time demands of this position, Dr Morgan believes it is necessary to relinquish all of his existing professional positions including his directorship of BHP Billiton,” the resources company said.

BHP Billiton chairman Don Argus expressed disappointment at the decision.

“Dr Morgan was a highly committed and hard working board member who made a valuable contribution,” Mr Argus said.

“From a personal point of view I have a great level of respect for David’s professionalism and achievements and I wish him all the best in his new role.”…read more at The Australian
